Outdoor locations
Some experience in shooting in a studio or on location with lighting. So what do we mean by an “outdoor location”? I’m not talking about out in the garden of a big house. I’m talking about shooting out in the wild, whether that’s an urban or rural location, this type of shoot is defined by modes of transport and a lack of access to things like mains electricity. I.e. – how do you light and shoot an image if you need to carry all of your equipment, including camera, lenses, lights, grip and your lunch, changes of clothes, first aid kit, towels etc on your back.3 attendees 6 hoursNorth Wales; Trossachs, Scotland£300Wales 8th August

103. Location LightingSome experience in shooting in a studio or on location with lighting.Shooting on location generally has a different set of goals than a studio shoot. In the studio, we start with a blank, dark box and set out to produce a specific image. We control everything from the backdrop, light, costume, gesture, glance, effects etc. On location, we may still set out to achieve a pre-determined shot, however, the predetermined ideas are likely elements of the shot rather than the whole thing: we may have a lighting style in mind, a setting or just a general theme. As well as bringing these ideas with us, we need to let the location inspire us as well.

This 6-hour workshop is limited to 3 attendees due to the nature of the location – ie shooting in bedrooms, bathrooms etc. This pushes the cost up a bit but makes for a much more interactive experience where you’ll work as a team to design, light and shoot the images.
